Wanted to share my latest experience with Wacom, particulary with the Cintiq Companion. It was a fantastic piece of equipment and my main tool for work. But a month ago it no longer could be charged, no matter which outlet I plugged it or which charger I used. So I contacted Wacom, explained my situation, and after sending back the Companion they sent me a replacement. The replacement tablet's screen started to flicker within an hour of use, and turned out to be useless for work. I contacted them again, this time Wacom paid for my shipping and promised to send me a new tablet instead of a refurbished one. I recently received that new tablet only to find a sizable dent on it's surface. I'm genuinely at a loss here. I loved using the Companion and would recommend it to everyone, but I'm so dissatisfied with the little to no inspection they did on the products they sent to me to replace my broken one. It has been a month since I've had a working tablet.
That is a whole month without being able to draw digitally, literally a whole month where I'm earning no income because it takes so long for a replacement to get sent. And both of those replacements weren't even given a couple minutes of inspection to see if they even worked. I never intended to post anything negative about Wacom and hoped that just contacting them by phone each time would help my problem, but at this point I really feel as though I should have just asked for a refund instead of expecting them to fix or replace anything as their warranty stated.
Pic of the dent on the replacement tablet they sent. I'd like to note that the packing box it was shipped in had no damage on it. I called Wacom again today and hopefully this will be the last time I have to.
So! Bottom line I made this journal for 2 reasons. 1.
If you're thinking of getting a Cintiq Companion, it's an awesome piece of equipment. Just take incredibly special care of it cause once it breaks and you send it in for repairs, it may take a month before you receive a working replacement.
This is the reason why my work flow has been slowed. I'm very sorry to all the people that have commissioned me so far. A very generous friend is allowing me to borrow their tablet when they can let me, so I'm working on them as much as I can given the circumstance.
