homework assignment where we paint flowers using only one color and yknow, messing with the opacity of the water color. i think brown fits nicely.
i totally didn't draw flowers. but there's in the vase behind the girl with something that sorta resembles flowers from a distance.
i thought it'd be funn if like, yknow how back then you married at a young age? and lots of teenagers had affairs before the girl was married off to some old guy? so maybe this teen couple conspired to love each other but they had to get the old guy out of the picture. so the girl cuts his head off when she and her old betrothed were eating soup or something.
sooooo the old man's family totally has a hunch the girl did is, so they force her to marry him dead anyways. or they cut her head off as well. so she has to tend to a head for the rest of her life. and copulate with it at some point. >_>
My first thought was of Victorian post-mortem photography when they would prop up corpses to get family portraits while the person was sitting perfectly still. Worked great for babies and children... *sarcasm* darn things just keep fidgeting while alive...
Very nice work. Your painting style is really nice, I especially like the way you rendered the non-flowers. The intense whites throughout it really add to it. Nice tonal range. The entire picture is rendered quite nicely.
thanks! n_n i shoudl try water coloring again, i didn't think it was a strong point. but i'd like to make more pictures like this. sure i draw stuff like this all the time, but i think watercolor gives it such an delicate edge.
i had a big watercolor phase and as much as i wanted to, i just could never get this kind of effect on paper. i really the brush strokes on that dress, nothing looks forced.
now that i've been practicing with digital art i get so lazy to do any traditional stuff, especially anything that requires more than a pen or pencil because it just gets so messy. i used to live for that traditional stuff.
i'll go back, besides, i always feel good when i go back to my roots.
